ARRL Kansas Section News Summary
Our Section Convention was held at Salina and hosted by Central Kansas ARC at Webster Conference Center. Back to Basics theme continued this year with Johnson County RAC providing a program about their club and what they do. Vice President Arron Boots-AA0RN and Section
Technical Coordinator(and club Member) Bill Brinker-WA0CBW did a wonderful job explaining how JOCO RAC is able to consistently attract club members and newer licensees to their meetings and functions each month. A video of their 2014 Field Day was included as part of their
presentation.
Half a dozen groups held meetings or presentations this year. The Weather Net participants got together to discuss procedures and instruments. One thing that came from the discussions was
the proper way to check-into the WX nets. There is an order in which the information should be transmitted.
The food service this time was expanded to include Large cinnamon rolls, sausages and hot sandwiches. A nice addition! Attendance was down slightly from last time but those that chose to be there were very happy, especially the door prize winners.
Mary-KC1IHS,Chuck-K0BOG and Mike K0FJ were great help with the League booth. ARRL Honorary Vice President Bruce-K0BJ and vice Director Rod-K0DAS also manned the booth and conducted a meeting during the convention.
I thank those that attended the Kansas Section Meeting. This is our annual meeting and I always look forward to seeing you. Many of you I hear almost daily on the nets but it’s not often we can be together under one roof.
73, Ron

Santa Fe Trail operated WW1USA from the National WW1 museum in Kansas City, MO. The club made over a thousand contacts that weekend. Kansas City area clubs will operate the station,
which is set up Field Day style, at significant points that occurred during the war.
Pony Express Special Event was again very successful. Jim-K0NK along with others put K0ASA on the air from the Hollenberg Pony Express Festival making over 130 contacts. This is primarily a CW operation and response was very good from Hams and event attendees. The guys did use a microphone on 20 meters for a brief time creating a pile up.
Wichita Area Hamfest sponsored by Valley Center ARC. October 4th at Riverwalk Church of Christ 225 N Waco, Wichita Contact Bruce KK0S (316)744-3555 or Steve N0YYI 316-617-1658

US Representatives Lynn Jenkins and Kevin Yoder have signed on as co-sponsors of HR4969 The Amateur Radio Parity Act of 2014. This bill still needs our support. It is similar to PRB-1 and calls for reasonable accommodation for Amateur Radio Service antennas where restrictions would preclude them.
Several operators have indicated they will put stations on the air for J.O.T.A this year.
Johnson County RAC held an HF shoot out for a meeting program.
Cal-KC0CL and Herb-NZ0F tied for first place.
