From there the stories went back in time to when he was living on the island of Anguilla, part of the British West Indies. His call while on the island was VP2EBR and he tells stories of using a septic tank as an antenna, and of being the official harbor monitor and relabeling Cuban bottled "liquid" for import into the United States, or to marrying the witch doctors daughter to taking over a haunted house. Now all of these were just little nuggets of the story but it sure leads the imagination down a path of exotic adventure. A life of fun that many of us would love to have lived.
He highly recommends the Ferryboat Inn, be sure and tell the owner Marjorie that "Bobcat" sent you! He gave firm warning about the island girls, as he said they could be very "aggressive". And I bet he has some stories down that path as well. Next time I see him on the air I might have to ask him about the island girls.
I changed the headline from "If Ocean Waves Could Talk" but I thought that Aggressive Island Girls might get more clicks.... ha! The QSO with Bob was fun and needless to say I created an alert on my software to let me know if he shows up again in the radio waves coming into my radio.
What if those OCEAN waves could talk! For now I can only imagine the stories that THOSE waves could tell.

rrr i got a year or two ahead of you. I was first licensed in '58 as k2zcm. i am looking at a pix of me in 58 using old heath dx1ØØ and a warrior amp. full go around butt forgot to use my Add k2zcm call. oh well xyl and i are in this apartment 3rd floor . we lived in anguilla island in the west indies for 2Ø years. wonderful dx, rum and snapper fish there. when recession hit i retired from my pianos playing job at the cusinart resort and came to florida. many restaraunts and walmarts here....hi hi. this station is minimal because there are 3ØØ apartments around me. have to bribe maintance men with top shelf bottle every christmas or they will report me to management. my first antenna here was 2Ø feel of wire flushed down the toilet. but xyl was quite woried that managers tool box wouldsuffer from exposure two floor below. hi hi BTU KAØEGE DE N2FBB/4 K

rr i must confess
I tied a knot in the end of the wire and froze in the ice cube try to help pull down the wire. then the ice cube could melt and no clog would occure. xyl did the flush and i let down the wire

I lost the signal for a moment, but he came back with a few more stories......
when i was in anguilla i used my septic tank for a ground wave
but the tank was cement and i was actually transmitting on my ground and using my loop as the counterpoise. my signal sure was quiet.
