Work The FM Ham Satellites
I ran across a GREAT site for learning the basics of working satellites! With spring coming right around the corner, this might be a good time to study up and get those homebrew antennas made up or order the one you need! I included a snip from the site and the link below.
Want to Work an FM Satellite This Week?
EVERYTHING you need is on this site to access an FM satellite or two ... monitor the ISS ... and more using equipment most hams already own! You’ll find ...
-CURRENT satellite schedules and frequency information
-antenna improvement suggestions (DIY and commercial)
-satellite-tracking software/apps - some FREE!
-a Yahoo Group support site for YOUR questions ... and more!
Thank you, Jeff, for your kind words! When I first saw an AMSAT table at a hamfest a decade or so ago, I just walked on by - MIS-thinking that one needed 100W of TX power, dual, computer-controlled Yagis on the roof (a cause for many divorces out here in California), and that expensive Yaesu rotator. But when I found out we can work a satellite or two with a Watt or two ... a handheld radio ... and an antenna improvement as meager as a $15 tape measure beam ... Well, I was hooked!
